Project 1 done

here's some progress pictures of the texturing process, and the final renders. Just a tip: if your texture is not working out on a simple object, just erase the existing UVs and make new ones! I learned this the hard way D:
here's the texture I painted in Photoshop from the reference chair: (oh, and it's a new chair model. I thought the texturing problem might have occurred because of the mode. wrong!)

Finished modeling

I might add curtains, but maybe not. I'm extremely horrid at texturing so I'm going to give it another go tomorrow. soo I added a cat, a chocolate fountain and strawberries, and a different rug for kitty. there's more beyond these, so this is just when i remembered to screencap.

chairs

I finished (?) the modeling of the two floral chairs that are in the room, I ended up using simple box modeling and a smoother over it because the NURBs are unfamiliar territory. I played with them a bit, but ultimately they would end up ripping apart.. or something. I guess they're made like bent metal sheets..kind of (that aren't fused together!).
anyway i finally got something done, and finished the chairs. the bigger chairs I'm not sure about, but I will probably just do separate models for them, since they're bigger and fluffier.
some screenshots: (about 3 hours?)

progress

here's what i got after about 2 and a half hours in the lab, including actually finding something to model. ( I NOW realize that there are supposed to be 4 reference pictures D:) so I hope this will be okay.
anyway, i've pretty much finished the basic details of the walls for the room: (p.s. I'm too lazy to crop these:)

Project #1

I've decided to make a model of the (a?) Library in Lawrence's Hotel in Sintra, Portugal. (thanks google images!) it looks beautiful, and a better picture than I could get from something around here. we'll see how it goes! here's the link to the site if you'd like to learn more about it : link

and here's what i'll be using as reference:

welcome back!

Hello! I've decided to start this blog up again for my new 3D modeling class, and hopefully the Animation one in the spring! so here are a few screen shots from the primitive exercise we're doing in class, a garage scene. This class is in Maya 8.5, not 3D Studio Max, so the interface is very different :|
anyway, here! :)
